What's Your Purpose?
One of the toughest sports known to mankind is wrestling. Yes you are on a team but for most of it, it is an individual sport that you pour your blood, sweat, and tears on the mat for six minutes. I've begun to have such a passion for this intense sport, this is all due to my amazing fiancé Shawn who has given a tremendous amount of his life for. I've seen men that have trained for years be broken down by their opponent in the final seconds of a match. Being a spectator to this sport, I have witnessed many victories and many defeats. Growing up participating in athletics my father who was our basketball coach would make my sister and I train with the wrestlers and I have never seen a more mentally and physically grueling sport.
One of the greatest known to this sport is Jordan Burroughs. He recently just had the opportunity to speak with the NFL team The Buffalo Bills. I have never been more inspired by a simple four minute video clip. He went on to talk about sports and how it is much more than just a paycheck. He talked about how he remembers the day when the sport was fun, there was never a paycheck involved, you went to the tournament to become the toughest guy. One of his key points was stating that "everyone makes money, but not everyone makes history" Discipline, focus, and endurance is how he has made himself successful. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Jordan and his family briefly and he is one of the most humble, caring individuals I have ever met.
This has given me inspiration and motivation to look at my life and ask myself, what do I want to be? What is my purpose? What is my life story going to look like? We should all take a moment to really focus in on what our life means to us. Maybe you've lost the love or passion for your career or maybe you're trying to figure out what your passion is but just remember you can be whatever you want to be and you can be a legend at it. If any of you guys have a moment to watch the video you won't be disappointed.
