We Must Not Live In Fear

Sorry it's been awhile since I've blogged I've been super occupied by the craziness of planning a wedding in two months. haha. I will do another wedding blog here soon to let you know the progress of everything but today I want to talk about two points I feel that weigh heavily on my heart from the unfortunate massacre shooting. The first is we must not live in fear.

24 hours hadn't even gone by when my bridesmaids and I had purchased our tickets to go to Vegas for my bachelorette party, as I was watching the news my stomach and heart hurt for the victims in the massacre shooting at Mandala Bay. I immediately started texting my bridesmaids asking them what they thought and if we should still go to Vegas. I didn't want to look unsympathetic due to the recent incident but at the same time we can not let these incidents let us live in fear. My bridesmaids and I all agreed we were still going to go to Vegas, some may not agree and some may completely understand. It is extremely scary to think about what is in the news these days, a shooting at a movie theatre, a terrorist attack on airplanes, now attacks at concerts, it is now exceptionally scary to go anywhere but what I thought was amazing was how Jake Owen, who had performed before Jason Aldean, responded by saying statements that he was not going to let this affect him from still going out and performing or my dad who was just in a terrible motorcycle accident got back on a motorcycle and is riding because he is not going to let his fears stop him from doing the things he loves. I do not want to take away from the horrible accident that just happened and the lives that were taken, I am incredibly sad but it is for them that we should honor in living a full life.

My second point is to donate blood, donating blood saves lives. The countless number of people who were injured in the massacre shooting needed blood for them to stay alive. I have donated blood only a handful of times due to my queasy stomach and light headedness of seeing blood but I sitting here right now can tell you my sister would not be alive if it weren't for the blood transfusion she received after having a terrible miscarriage. Blood truly saves lives and I vow to start donating blood more often.

Let's please keep praying for all of these states and people who have been affected by unfortunate events of hurricanes, shootings, etc. I pray we come together as a community and lean on one another for support in these hard times.

With Love,
Cierra
