Colorful Colorado

Hey guys,

Sorry it's been so long since I have blogged but I just got back from vacation and boy was it nice to get away for awhile. Shawn and I went to Colorado for vacation to enjoy some hiking, witness our amazing friends get engaged, and watch Shawn as he destroyed his first spartan race in the elite division.

Here is a little recap of what our weekend looked like:

Shawn and I left Friday after we got off work, Shawn drove the entire way, poor guy. haha. We got to our campsite were we met our friends Caleigh and Dakota who had already drove down that morning and already had their camp set up. Instead of Shawn and I pitching a tent, since we are so short, we just fold the seats down in our jeep patriot and sleep back there. It definitely got cold so we were glad to be snuggled up in a semi warm environment. The next morning we ate breakfast and headed out to hike eleven miles. When we finally reached our half way point which was willow's lake, (by the way it was sooo beautiful) Dakota got down on one knee and asked Caleigh to marry him. It was so awesome to be apart of the experience. After our hike we were all so exhausted. Dakota and Caleigh went back to the campsite while Shawn and I met up with his parents to have dinner and rest before Shawn's race the next morning.

The morning of the race I was so nervous for Shawn, I honestly didn't know what to expect but I was just hoping for the best. I know Shawn had been training for this race religiously and I was hoping it would all pay off. Because we were all the way up in the mountains we only were able to watch the beginning of the race and the very end of the race. I was getting so nervous when the first fifteen guys had already gone through. As my heart began to race and I could feel myself holding my breath Shawn turned the corner to come out of the woods and I couldn't help but let out a big sigh of relief and start to scream by lungs out. Shawn kicked some serious ass in this race. Again, I will tell everyone this is his first race EVER and he raced in the elite division with the best men out there. He placed 16th out of 104 men who race in these almost every weekend. I couldn't help but get emotional, as usual, as he crossed the finish line. I ran straight for him and gave him a huge hug.

I won't continue to talk to much more of our vacation besides go visit Colorado. I don't think I could personally live their because it's really busy and overly congested in the city but man it is beautiful. We continued to do a few more hikes at the Garden of the Gods and on our last day we saw this breath taking water fall called the Seven Falls, I highly suggest everyone go see it, it allows you to climb 224 steps to the top to see the start of the waterfall and then a hike after that. I continue to fall in love with Colorado every time I go there. The scenery is beautiful and so are the humbling people we encountered. Thank you friends and family for a crazy, amazing, and fun vacation.

Until next time,

Cierra
